Silver Pines NVDA Accessibility Interface Mod

This accessibility modification is designed to seamlessly connect the
text-heavy adventure game Silver Pines with the NVDA screen reader. It
automatically intercepts on-screen dialogue, environmental subtitles,
in-world interaction popups, item inspect descriptions, menu navigation,
and multi-page dossiers, speaking them out loud through your NVDA voice
in real time.

Please note that this modification requires the NVDA screen reader to be
running in the background before you launch the game. If NVDA is not open,
the game will play normally without speech output. Once NVDA is running
and you start the game, the mod connects silently and immediately begins
assisting you with speech.

For the best possible experience, it is strongly recommended in your
NVDA Settings (under Keyboard) to disable Speak Typed Characters and Speak
Command Keys so that pressing Arrow Keys or movement keys does not announce
keystrokes over the game's menu items and dialogue.

Important note on accessibility scope: This mod is specifically created
for visually impaired users, low-vision players, and gamers who experience
severe eye strain or fatigue when trying to read lots of small on-screen
text for extended periods. It is not designed for fully blind navigation,
as it does not include 3D spatial beacons, sound cues for world obstacles,
or automated movement pathfinding. It handles all text delivery, menu
interactions, reading material, and prompts so you can enjoy the story
and mechanics without straining your eyes.

In-world interaction popups and attention chime: As your character walks
through the environment, any interaction prompt that appears on screen,
such as a prompt to inspect a car or open a door, will immediately play
a pleasant two-tone attention alert ping. NVDA will announce the interact
prompt out loud so you never miss an interactable object. If you ever
missed the announcement or were walking quickly, you can simply press the
F1 key to repeat whatever prompt or text was just triggered.

How to navigate and control the mod: When navigating through the Main Menu,
Pause Menu, or Settings screens, simply use your keyboard Arrow Keys. Up
and Down arrows will announce each highlighted option. On settings rows
like Graphics and Audio, Left and Right arrows will announce each value as
you adjust it, such as switching Shadows from Low to Medium.

Mouse hover reading: Moving your mouse cursor over any button, menu entry,
inspectable note, or inventory slot will immediately speak whatever is
under the cursor. For inventory items such as keys and tools, hovering
announces the full item name along with its description, even if the slot
itself only displays an icon.

Virtual Buffer Review Mode (F2): If you ever want to read everything
currently visible on the screen from top to bottom, press the F2 key.
You will hear an ascending audio chime indicating that Review Mode is
active, and NVDA will report how many lines of text were detected. While
in Review Mode, use the Down Arrow to read down the screen line by line,
the Up Arrow to read up line by line, the Home key to jump to the very
top, and the End key to jump to the bottom. Each step plays a subtle
navigation click, and hitting the top or bottom boundary plays a low bump
tone. Pressing F2 a second time plays a descending audio chime, exits
Review Mode, and returns you to standard gameplay.

Reading dossiers, diaries, and lore files: When examining in-game diaries,
notes, dossiers, and case files, please note that hovering with the mouse
will generally only announce the document title or header. To read the
entire body of a dossier or diary, simply press F2 to open the Virtual
Buffer. This captures the complete document text and lets you read through
every paragraph and clue line by line with your Arrow Keys. You will love
using the virtual buffer for dossiers and you will quickly get used to it.

Quick controls: If you ever want to repeat the last spoken line of
dialogue or prompt, press the F1 key. If NVDA is reading a long passage
and you want to silence speech immediately, press either the Left Control
or Right Control key.

Installation instructions: Installing this mod is completely effortless.
Simply copy all the files and folders from this folder (including BepInEx,
dotnet, doorstop_config.ini, and the DLL files) and paste them directly
into your Silver Pines game installation folder, right where the game
executable Carpenter.exe is located. When prompted, choose to replace any
existing files. Once copied, start the game and enjoy a fully voiced text
experience.
